Dependencies can be created from the “create project,” “create/edit template,” and task card view. Finish to start dependencies indicate that the (successor) task cannot be completed until a separate (predecessor) task is completed. A user can mark a task as complete, even if its predecessor is not completed.

How to use dependencies with a template

  • Access your ‘create template’ or ‘edit template’ modal.
  • Select the Tasks tab and your template will appear.
  • To make Task A dependent on Task B, within the 'dependent on' column for Task A, select "Task B" by clicking the '+' sign or by using the search box. You can also add more than one dependency to Task A if you choose.
  • A checkbox will appear to show this task is now dependent on another task.

Please note that only users with Admin permissions can create dependencies within a template. Once a template is created anyone with access to a task can edit or add a dependency.

How to use dependencies with ‘create project’

  • Access your ‘create project’ modal.
  • Select the Tasks tab and your tasks will pre-populate.
  • To make Task A dependent on Task B, within the 'dependent on' column for Task A, select "Task B" by clicking the '+' sign or by using the search box. You can also add more than one dependency to Task A if you choose.
  • A checkbox will appear to show this task is now dependent on another task.

Please note that only users with Admin permissions can create dependencies within the ‘create project’ modal. Once a project is published anyone with access to a task can edit or add a dependency.

How to create dependencies in within a task card

  • Select a task from within a project task list view, timeline view, or my work.
  • Within the task card view, locate ‘Dependencies’ on the card.
  • Task cards with dependencies will show a ‘finish to start’ relationship in which a Task A cannot start until Task B is finished. Task A is dependent on Task B.
  • Select the + Add.
  • Select the task you want to indicate as a predecessor to this task by selecting the plus sign. You can also use the search box if there are multiple tasks you want to search through before selecting.
  • A checkbox will appear to show this task is now dependent on another task.
  • Once finished, close the task.
